Dragon's Breath
Voices of the River Char
This Saturday, 31st May, is our River Dragon parade and festival...
Here’s what the start of the Dragon Parade looked like last time:
There are just three things you can do.
Will you join us?
Whatever you do, please join the parade along the river through Charmouth (it starts at 11am at Charmouth Playing Field, Barr’s Lane). Or come along later (between 12:30 and 4pm) to St Andrew’s Hall to see stalls, displays, paintings and demonstrations about the River Char and our work to clean it up.
Key people from Wessex Water, Dorset National Landscape and the River Char Action Group will be there to answer your questions.
Can you help us?
We need:
Helpers to set up tables and some displays the night before (Friday 30th from 5pm) at St Andrew’s Hall, Lower Sea Lane, Charmouth DT6 6LH
Helpers to set up displays on Saturday between 8.30 and 10.30am (again at St Andrews Hall, Lower Sea Lane, Charmouth DT6 6LH)
Help with tea, coffee and refreshments on Saturday at St Andrew’s Hall
Donations of cakes and biscuits or savouries on Saturday
People to be part of the dragon. Turn up for a fun rehearsal at the garden of The Court, The Street, Charmouth DT6 6PE, on Thursday 29th May at 6pm. [Or come to Barr’s Lane Recreation ground, Charmouth on Saturday — from 10.30am and we’ll find you a part in the Dragon!]
Marshalls — can you guide the Dragon safely along the road on Saturday 31st May, from 10.45-11.45am. Meet at Barr’s Lane Playing Fields DT6 6PS
If you can help in any way, please let us know. Email rivercharmonitoring@gmail.com
Can you support us?
We’ve just launched our Crowdfunder appeal. If you can donate even the cost of the proverbial cup of coffee it would help us to cover our costs.
Please join generous donors like:
Gane & Marshall (a small family-run tour operator based in Morcombelake, selling safari, wildlife and adventure holidays mainly in East and Southern Africa).
Dorset National Landscape (who have helped us with training, research, water testing, materials and finance).
Wessex Water (who have run extensive and expensive water quality tests for us over the past year, free of charge).
We asked AI to generate an image of: “A river dragon festival with adults and children on a sunny day by a river in England”. It gave us this uncanny likeness:
